A rather fine antique Japanese miniature papier-mâché Noh theatre mask with mesmerising glass eyes….. not for the faint hearted - he has a spooky presence! 

With some wear to the chin but expertly formed , the eyes really are piercing ! 

One of the earliest forms of theatre , Noh has its origins in Shinto and Buddhism and I particularly love the fact that traditionally the actors ( originally all male ) would only get together once to rehearse before a performance !!
