Gustav Dore's work is the ideal match for Raspe's extraordinary Baron Munchausan and this is a super volume , Quarto ( large!) and with 218 pages.
With an introduction by T. Teignmouth Shaw and published by Cassel,Petter and Galpin in 1867. The tooled gilt boards are distressed and water stained , with a previous owners signature to the endpapers which are also stained. The inner pages, however are in good order. I’m never a fan of breaking up old books but this would benefit from a rebinding .
A really fabulous book with copious illustrations including many full page ones..
