I love quilts for the slice of everyday life they conjure, a medley of scraps carefully sewn together, they really are beautiful pieces of social history.

This one had an added bonus, a little label telling us that it was a gift donated by the Canadian Red Cross Society along with a number A997. I’d love to know if it was made specifically to be donated , or something rummaged from the back of a cupboard and sent on its way to help another.

Great colours, lightly padded and softly faded, with wear here and there but nothing to write home about.

Approx 200 x 175 cm.
