While this isn’t a ‘showy’ sampler I love it all the more for its unpretentious practicality. 
Dated 1892 and monogrammed BS, it’s a tour de force of stitching, mending and button holing techniques. Each one is so beautifully executed, from the samples of fine 
mending along the bottom row to the teeny button hole stitches on the top. It really is a fascinating piece and probably made to showcase the skills of a young woman preparing for a job as a domestic servant or seamstress
