Double Dial Chronograph Speed Indicator Mensor Pocket Watch | Briggs & Oliver
top of page

A rare, double sided pocket watch possibly made by Weil & Co of Switzerland. The front of the watch has an enamel dial, fine tachmetre scale and above the centre, to the upper register, a series of red numbers  from 3 to 15, allowing the speed of a motor car or train to be calculated.  The reverse dial of the watch has full multiple registers at 15, 20, 30 and 60 kmh or mph. With a colour register, for two or three minute segments in red, black, green and blue. The movement has a lever escapement, steel work, blued screws and 15 jewels.

In the original fitted red box .

A really interesting piece, the watch appears to be in working order and keeps good time - I’m not entirely sure how to operate the stopwatch side ! I think the whole movement would benefit from a good clean !
