Faber’s Book of Insects. Published in 1921 this lovely book was aimed at children and is a retelling of the renowned entomologist Jean Henri Fabre’s, ‘Souvenirs Entomologiques’. It is illustrated throughout with exquisite watercolours by Edward Detmold who was hugely influenced by both the Art Nouveau movements and traditional Japanese art. Small Quarto with beautifully embossed gilt hardboards and spine. With twelve gorgeous colour plates with their original flypapers, 184 pages. In great condition with slight wear and foxing commensurate with age, all in all a beautiful book !
