Victorian electric shock machine in mahogany box. The Victorians were well known for their love of portable medical devices and this little gem is no exception !
 
When rigged up ( the instructions are on the original label inside the lid ) it would administer a small electric shock which the manufacturers claimed would help treat instances of toothache, neuralgia and tic-doloreux !
