A tea drinking , chain smoking vegetarian, John Abercrombie was one of the 18th century’s most prolific gardening writers.

This tiny volume is a wonderful example of his gardening wisdom in calendrical form, ‘containing an account of work necessary to be done in the kitchen and fruit garden, the flower garden and hot house for every month of the year’ .

 

Published in 1841 and with a gorgeous frontispiece it’s a perfect and unusual gift for any keen gardener .
